Bermudians encouraged to secure British passports for urgent travel

In light of the recent cyberattack, the Bermuda government is advising citizens to apply for a British passport to avoid delays if they need to travel urgently.

This move aims to mitigate the adverse effects of potential travel delays, ensuring that urgent travel necessities are met without significant hindrance.

The expected wait time is up to 20 weeks. 

Department of Immigration battles backlog

Despite the cyber disruptions, the Department of Immigration is reinvigorating its operations, resuming the processing of passport applications with a view to expeditiously clearing the existing backlog.

Investigating the cyber invasion

Premier David Burt recently shared that an investigation into the cyber attack had found circumstantial evidence that personal data may have been infiltrated.
