"I mean, it feels amazing you know. All the work my teammates put in. All the work, all the preparation from the coaches, battling through all the adversity and getting something from it."
Bent acknowledged the intensity of Honduras' challenge but said watching his teammates continue to battle fueled his determination to find the decisive goal.
"It's definitely a tough shift, but, I mean, looking around, seeing my teammates dying on the pitch really just gave me the extra push I needed, and honestly it's all thanks to my team, and so we're just looking forward to the next round. We're not going to get hung over on this."
Focus already shifts to Panama
While pleased with the opening victory, Bent stressed that Jamaica's work has only just begun in a highly competitive group.
"We have two more games against two very good teams, so we're just going to keep pushing.
"I think we're just going to come out here with the same intensity. I think we shook off all the rush, shook off all the nerves, and now that we're getting going, hopefully we can build on this momentum and just keep pushing."
Jamaica sits alongside Canada atop Group C with three points after the Canadians defeated Panama 3-0 to claim the superior goal difference.
The Reggae Boyz return to action Wednesday when they face Panama at the same venue in Puebla, with another victory significantly strengthening their chances of advancing to the quarter-finals.
The top two teams from each of the three groups, along with the two best third-place finishers, will progress to the knockout stage. From there, the stakes become even higher, as the four quarterfinal winners will not only reach the semi-finals but also secure automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan.
