PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad — Nicholas Pooran, the dynamic and hard-hitting batsman of the West Indies, has emerged as a frontrunner for the highly anticipated 2024 Sportsman of the Year award.

With a record-shattering performance in T20 cricket over the past year, Pooran is poised to claim the prestigious title at the First Citizens Sports Awards, set to take place on January 11 at the luxurious Hyatt Regency Trinidad.

Pooran’s 2024 campaign was nothing short of extraordinary. The 29-year-old left-handed powerhouse etched his name in cricketing history by amassing an astonishing 2,331 runs across 74 T20 innings, boasting an enviable average of 40.89 and a dazzling strike rate of 157.3.
