The Barbados Under-15 cricket team reaffirmed their title credentials in emphatic fashion at the CWI Rising Stars U15 Championship, registering a commanding 170-run victory over the Leeward Islands on Thursday at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.

From early stumbles to a dominant resurgence, the defending champions proved they are a force to be reckoned with as they improved to 2-0 in the tournament.

Barbados recovers from early blow to post mammoth total

Sent in to bat under overcast skies, Barbados was shaken early by a fiery opening spell from Leewards pacer William Pitman, who removed two batters inside seven overs to leave the champions reeling at 11 for 2. But the collapse would end there.

Captain Justin Parris and Kelani Clarke orchestrated a stunning comeback, stringing together a 146-run third-wicket partnership that turned the tide. Parris struck a composed 72, peppered with nine boundaries, before again falling to the relentless Pitman.

Clarke continued the assault with a fluent 86 off 90 deliveries, featuring eight crisp fours and a towering six. Seth Smith, steady behind the stumps and fluent with the bat, added a vital 55, lifting Barbados to an imposing 275 all out in 49.5 overs.

Pitman was a shining light in an otherwise dim day for the Leewards, finishing with a sensational 6 for 41.

Parris returns with the ball to crush the chase

As if his batting wasn’t enough, Justin Parris returned with the ball to dismantle the Leewards’ reply. Bowling with venom and control, he snatched 4 for 13, sparking a rapid collapse.

Liam Sealy (3-21) and Jahidi Hinds (2-17) provided effective support as the Leewards crumbled to 105 all out in 37.1 overs. The only resistance came from Clayvaunte Powell, whose one-handed 64 was a valiant but ultimately futile effort.

Jamaica bounces back with convincing win over Guyana

Over at the Antigua Recreation Ground, Jamaica bounced back strongly from their opening loss to Barbados, recording a seven-wicket triumph over Guyana.

Guyana never found their footing, bundled out for 104, with medium pacer Andrew Lloyd ripping through the middle order en route to 4 for 14. A steady 65-3 spiraled quickly to 68-6 under his onslaught, while Dondre Peters chipped in with 2 for 12.

In response, Jamaica calmly chased down the target in 29 overs, losing only three wickets. Jayden Shaw (38) and Tesfah Ward (25) guided the team home with poise and precision.

Trinidad & Tobago make light work of Windwards

At Liberta Sports Club, Trinidad & Tobago joined the winners' circle with a clinical seven-wicket victory over the Windward Islands. After Rylee Gangoo (3-9) and Samuel Stewart (3-38) shredded the Windwards’ lineup for 123, the Trinidadian top order made short work of the target.

Zion Phillip (36) and Kaiden Pollard (24) anchored the chase, seeing their side home in just 23.1 overs at 124 for 3.
