The Bahamian government has requested urgent clarification from U.S. authorities following a social media post reportedly by American congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna alleging that Iranian and Russian nationals were interdicted by the U.S. Coast Guard after departing The Bahamas in an attempt to enter the United States unlawfully.

In a brief statement issued Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said no security agency in The Bahamas has any knowledge of such an incident.

“We have sought urgent clarification from the US government about a social media post from a US Congresswoman that Iranians and Russians were interdicted by the U.S. Coast Guard from The Bahamas trying to enter the US unlawfully,” the statement read.

The ministry emphasized that it is awaiting a formal response from U.S. officials. No further details were provided about the individuals allegedly involved or the circumstances of the interdiction.

The incident, if confirmed, could have implications for both U.S.-Bahamas border cooperation and regional security monitoring.
