Antonio stood atop the podium as Costa Rica’s Santiago Carvajal Córdoba accepted silver and host nation favorite Matias Herrera claimed bronze. Each match showcased Antonio’s blend of raw power and technical finesse, earning him admiration from fellow athletes and spectators alike.

Lessons beyond medals

Although the right arm division eluded him, Antonio found value far greater than hardware. “Although receiving 0 medals on right arm the number of connections made are immeasurable,” he posted on Facebook, celebrating the camaraderie and international exposure his performance generated for Antigua and Barbuda.

Antonio cited the Argentine cold and sporadic refereeing calls as unexpected hurdles. Yet rather than dampen his spirit, these challenges steeled his resolve. His ability to adapt under pressure highlighted not only his athletic prowess but also his maturity as a competitor on the continental stage.

With gold secured, Antonio has already set his sights on future triumphs. “The goal for my next competition is to be twice as strong so I leave no room for error,” he declared, promising even greater displays of strength and determination as he continues to elevate Antigua and Barbuda’s presence in international arm wrestling.
