Antigua’s agriculture ministry unveils ambitious youth-focused Agribusiness initiative

Antigua’s Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, Forestry, and Marine Resources is set to launch the Young Entrepreneurs, Farmers, and Fishermen in Agriculture and Agribusiness Project.

Funded by the CARICOM Development Fund, this initiative aims to revitalize the agricultural sector by providing vital training and financial assistance to young farmers, agriculture workers, and agribusiness entrepreneurs.

Combatting rural poverty and youth unemployment

This project tackles two critical issues in Antigua and Barbuda: rural poverty and youth unemployment.

By expanding opportunities for small-scale agriculture and agribusiness ventures, the Ministry seeks to uplift rural communities and offer alternative job prospects, particularly for individuals aged 16 to 35.

The goal is to reduce unemployment rates and promote economic growth in the region.
