American tourist dies during diving expedition in Bahamas

The police in the Bahamas are probing the circumstances surrounding the death of a 75-year-old American female tourist from Myrtle Grove, North Carolina. 

Reports are that the incident occurred during a diving expedition.

Diving expedition takes a grim turn

The Royal Bahamas Police Force reported that on Monday around 8 pm, the victim participated in a diving excursion in waters off Ship Channel Cay, Exuma.

Upon her return to the tour boat, she complained of exhaustion and later lost consciousness.  

Life-saving efforts proved futile

The woman received CPR but remained unresponsive. 

She was transported to a local marina on Paradise Island where emergency medical technicians examined her and found no signs of life. 

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
