Early voting for Florida’s November 5 general election is officially underway, with in-person voting available across all 67 counties as of Monday.
The early voting period will continue through at least November 2, with specific deadlines depending on the county. In Miami-Dade and Broward counties, early voting will run until Sunday, November 3, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. In Monroe County, early voting is available until Saturday, November 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Voters have until Thursday, October 24, to request a vote-by-mail ballot. For those opting to vote in person, it is important to bring a valid photo ID with a signature. Those who do not have proper identification can still cast a provisional ballot, which will be counted if the signature matches the one on their registration record. A variety of ID types are accepted for voting purposes.
In Miami-Dade County, there are 33 early voting locations, while Broward County has 29. Monroe County offers two locations for early voters, and Palm Beach County provides 29.
Joe Scott, Broward County Supervisor of Elections, highlighted the importance of early voting, noting, “With over two dozen locations to choose from, we have made Early Voting as accessible and secure as possible to ensure everyone can participate in the democratic process. Early voting is a great opportunity for voters to cast their ballots at a time and location that is most convenient for them.” Scott also encouraged voters to bring family or friends along when voting early.
In addition to in-person voting, Secure Ballot Intake Drop Boxes are available at all early voting sites, allowing voters to securely drop off their vote-by-mail ballots. All early voting locations are equipped with ADA-compliant machines to ensure that voters with disabilities can fully participate in the election process.
As of Wednesday, October 23, over 2.2 million Floridians have already cast their ballots, either through vote-by-mail or early voting, according to the Florida Division of Elections.
Of the 1,488,353 vote-by-mail ballots submitted, 542,112 came from Republicans, 632,167 from Democrats, 30,052 from other parties, and 284,022 from voters with no party affiliation. Early voting saw 762,805 ballots cast, with Republicans submitting 412,545, Democrats 213,246, 15,780 from other parties, and 121,234 from those with no party affiliation.
In South Florida, voter turnout has been robust. In Broward County, over 116,000 people have voted by mail, with Democrats leading, and over 53,000 voters have cast early ballots. In Miami-Dade, more than 143,000 voters submitted mail ballots, where Democrats have the edge, while over 73,000 voters cast their ballots early, with Republicans leading in this category. In Palm Beach County, over 135,000 voters have participated by mail, where Democrats are ahead, and more than 51,000 voters have cast early ballots, with Republicans leading.
As of the latest update from the Florida Division of Elections, 1,891,813 vote-by-mail ballots have been provided to voters but have not yet been returned. Of these, 620,837 were sent to Republican voters, 777,785 to Democrats, 44,941 to other parties, and 448,250 to voters with no party affiliation. These figures reflect the continued high engagement in the state’s election process, with significant numbers of vote-by-mail ballots still pending return as early voting continues.
With several days left for early voting, Florida is experiencing high levels of voter engagement ahead of Election Day. Voters are encouraged to participate, either through early voting, mail-in ballots, or in person on November 5.
