Suspect charged after woman attacked, sexually assaulted in Miami

A man has been arrested in connection with a violent sexual assault that occurred earlier this week in Miami, authorities announced Saturday.

According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) Special Victims Bureau, investigators identified 41-year-old Daysnel Hernandez as the suspect in the July 3 incident near 777 NW 72 Avenue.

Detectives say Hernandez approached a white female victim and struck her in the back of the head with a rock. He then allegedly covered her mouth and held a screwdriver to her neck, forcing her to perform sexual acts against her will.

Using investigative techniques, MDSO detectives were able to track down and positively identify Hernandez as the suspect. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged.

The investigation remains ongoing.
