The Consulate General of Jamaica in Miami will host the 63rd Annual Jamaica Independence Church Service on Sunday, August 3, 2025, inviting the Jamaican diaspora and friends of the island to join in a celebration of faith, unity, and national pride.
The service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at Cooper City Church of God, located at 9191 Stirling Road in Cooper City. This longstanding tradition brings together community members in a spirit of thanksgiving to mark Jamaica’s independence, which was first celebrated on August 6, 1962.
South Florida remains one of the most popular hubs for Jamaicans and Jamaican-Americans, making the annual service a key event on the diaspora calendar.
Organizers say attendees can expect a vibrant display of Jamaican culture, with special performances, prayers for the nation, and an emphasis on fellowship. Guests are encouraged to wear their Jamaican colors, wave their flags, and come ready to honor the island’s enduring legacy.
“This annual event brings together the Jamaican diaspora and well-wishers in a vibrant spirit of thanksgiving and cultural pride,” the Consulate noted in a statement.
Registration is required to attend the event. Seats can be reserved at independenceservice2025.eventbrite.com.
Under the theme “One People, Under One God,” the Consulate invites all to gather in celebration of 63 years of Jamaican independence.
