Broward County vote-by-mail ballots to be distributed for August primaries

On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, over 200,000 Vote-By-Mail ballots for the upcoming August 20, 2024 Primary Election will be mailed to voters in Broward County. This is a significant logistical undertaking, facilitated by the Supervisor of Elections office.

Joe Scott, Broward County Supervisor of Elections, highlighted the scale of the operation, stating, “Over 200,000 domestic Vote-By-Mail ballots will be going out on the 16th from our new state-of-the-art building. This number of requested Vote-By-Mail ballots is approximately one-third the number requested for the 2020 Election. The decrease in requested ballots is due, in part, to the recent change in Florida law. We hope more voters will take advantage of the option to Vote-By-Mail by visiting our website and renewing their request.”

Voters are reminded to sign their Vote-by-Mail Ballot Voter Certificate on the Envelope before mailing it back to the Supervisor of Elections office. Additionally, those interested in voting by mail must request a ballot no later than August 8, 2024.

Key Information for Voters

  1. Return Postage: Vote-By-Mail ballots include pre-paid postage for returning envelopes. It’s crucial for voters to allow ample time for delivery by the USPS, as ballots must be received—not merely postmarked—by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day, August 20th.
  2. Ballot Drop-Off Locations: There will be over two dozen locations available for ballot drop-off during early voting dates and times. Once early voting concludes, voters can deliver their ballots to any office of the Supervisor of Elections until 7:00 p.m. on August 20th. For a list of locations, visit www.browardvotes.gov.
