Grenada targets Guyanese travelers with strategic tourism mission in Georgetown

The Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA), alongside airline and hotel partners, wrapped up a successful marketing mission in Guyana aimed at boosting Grenada’s appeal as a preferred destination for Guyanese travelers.

The initiative is part of GTA’s wider strategy to drive intra-Caribbean tourism and position Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique as vibrant, accessible island escapes.

The highlight of the visit was a lively promotional activation at Giftland Mall on June 19, where the Grenadian delegation engaged directly with the Guyanese public. The event featured destination highlights, cultural exchanges, giveaways, and culinary showcases—all designed to introduce the essence of “Pure Grenada” to a new audience.

“Guyana is an emerging market for leisure, investment, and trade,” said Tornia Charles, Director of Sales and Marketing at the Grenada Tourism Authority. “This mission allowed us to deepen that relationship while showing how easy and exciting it is to travel to Grenada. We offer regional travelers authenticity, adventure, and relaxation.”

Crowds at Giftland Mall were drawn in by the chance to win round-trip tickets to Grenada and complimentary hotel stays. The giveaways generated buzz on social media and in the local press, driving curiosity about Grenada’s famous spice-scented landscapes, underwater sculpture park, rainforests, and cultural festivals.

In a nod to culinary diplomacy, the mission also challenged two Guyanese chefs to create Grenadian-inspired dishes using hallmark ingredients like nutmeg and saltfish. Their inventive takes—including a nutmeg cooler, saltfish fritters, and a spiced dipping sauce—delighted attendees and showcased the flavors of Grenada in new and creative ways.

Key partners on the mission included InterCaribbean Airways and hotel representatives from True Blue Bay Resort, Sea Breeze Hotel, and The Bay House. Their presence allowed for direct engagement with potential travelers, offering insights into Grenada’s accommodations, hospitality, and in-destination experiences.

The initiative underscores Grenada’s commitment to strengthening Caribbean tourism ties and encouraging regional travel. According to GTA, this is just one of several campaigns planned to expand Grenada’s reach across key regional and international markets.

“We’re building bridges between Caribbean neighbors,” Charles added, “and creating new opportunities for tourism growth and cultural exchange.”
