The Municipal Commission of Cap-Haitien has expressed profound sadness over the tragedy, extending condolences to the families of the victims.

Tragedy strikes

In one particularly harrowing incident, Labori, a shantytown near Barrière Bouteille, bore the brunt of nature’s fury as a landslide engulfed the area, claiming the lives of at least 11 individuals and reducing three homes to rubble.

Rescue efforts have been underway relentlessly, with both official teams and local residents combing through the debris in search of survivors.

Tragically, another life was lost in this separate incident, compounding the toll of the natural disaster.

Calls for vigilance and caution

As Cap-Haitien grapples with the aftermath of the calamity, the Municipal Commission has issued a stark plea for residents to exercise vigilance and adhere strictly to safety protocols outlined by Civil Protection authorities.

Residents are urged to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in areas identified as high-risk zones for landslides.

Mobilization for relief efforts

In the wake of the disaster, the Municipal Commission has mobilized resources to aid those affected and coordinate relief efforts.

Collaborating closely with emergency services and local organizations, the commission is steadfast in its commitment to overcoming the tragedy and providing support to the stricken communities.
