Caribbean Airlines has earned recognition as the third most punctual airline in the Latin American region for 2024, according to the Cirium On-Time Performance Report. The report defined “on time” as arriving within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time, and Caribbean Airlines achieved an impressive 85% on-time arrival rate. Notably, Caribbean Airlines was the only Caribbean carrier to be listed among the top ten performers, with Copa Airlines and Aeromexico taking the top two spots in Latin America.

In addition to its on-time performance, Caribbean Airlines also achieved a Completion Factor of 99.06% for 2024, underscoring the airline’s reliability and commitment to maintaining a high standard of service.

The Completion Factor refers to the percentage of tracked flights that were completed, meaning not cancelled. Of a total of 29,770 flights, 99.88% were tracked.

Contacted for comment yesterday executive manager of Corporate Communications at Caribbean Airlines Dionne Ligoure lauded the accomplishment.

Cirium has rated airlines for timeliness for more than 16 years.

Aeromexico has earned the distinction of having the world’s best on-time arrival record for 2024, according to the Cirium On-Time Performance Report. This achievement marks the third consecutive year that a South American carrier has claimed the top spot globally for on-time performance. Aeromexico surpassed 2023 winner Avianca, which dropped to seventh place this year.

Lydia Webb, Cirium’s Marketing Director for the Americas & Strategic Programs, described 2024 as a landmark year for operational excellence in Latin American airlines and airports. “The region’s airlines and airports were among the top-ranking performers in the global airlines and airports categories throughout the year,” Webb noted, highlighting the outstanding performance of Latin American carriers in 2024.

Saudia Airlines made a remarkable leap in 2024, jumping to second place for on-time arrivals with a performance rate of 86.35%, up from ninth place last year. Delta Air Lines rounded out the top three with an on-time arrival rate of 83.46%, improving from fourth place in 2023.

Delta also continued to lead North American carriers and, despite facing an operational setback in July due to a CrowdStrike IT outage, won the Cirium Platinum Award for global operational excellence for the fourth consecutive year. According to the report, “Delta rebounded, showcasing their effective crisis management and the depth of their operational infrastructure,” underscoring the airline’s resilience and strong operational performance.
