The examinations, conducted on Monday by government pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh, indicated that the soldiers succumbed to multiple injuries and severe burns.

The autopsies were witnessed by a senior official of the Guyana Police Force.

Reports are that two GDF servicemen, co-pilot Lt. Andio Crawford, and Corporal Dwayne Jackson, survived the horrific event that took place in the Essequibo region on December 6.

Autopsy reports

According to the autopsies, Lieutenant Colonel Michael Shahoud and Warrant Officer Class 2 Jason Khan endured multiple injuries, while Lieutenant Colonel Michael Charles was identified by his name tag on part of his uniform. His death was attributed to extensive burns.

Similarly, Retired Brigadier Gary Beaton was identified through dental records, with burns being his cause of death as well, alongside Lieutenant Colonel Sean Welcome.

According to reports, DNA samples were obtained from the burned victims for conclusive identification, following which their bodies were released to their families for burial.
