As of October 10, the reggae/dancehall classic has some 100,025,000 streams. It is the only song from Wayne Wonder to achieve this milestone.

In August 2022, the song was certified gold in the United States by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), commemorating sales exceeding 500,000 units.

The RIAA Gold plaque was presented to Wayne Wonder by VP Records CEO Christopher Chin at the Central Park SummerStage concert in New York last year. Upon receiving the award Wonder said, “I am humbled by this great recognition.”

No Letting Go was also certified gold in the United Kingdom in November 2020 for sales exceeding 400,000 copies.

The song was written by Wonder and Steven “Lenky” Marsden, and produced by Marsden.

It was included on Wayne Wonder’s 2003 studio album No Holding Back, which was nominated for Best Reggae Album at the 2004 Grammy’s. The single charted at a peak position of number three on the UK Singles Chart. It also peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States.

Wonder said that it was American media personality Wendy Williams who first introduced the song to commercial radio, which then gained traction among DJs, propelling its momentum continuously forward.

It remains Wonder’s most successful single to date. “I had been working with him [Marsden] for years when he was playing live music so when he switched over to music production, I transitioned with him. I actually gave him my first two-door Civic. I signed over the title to him and everything, and he gave me my most successful hit,” he said of the song in a previous MTV interview.

The song was one of the many hits from the jumpy handclap riddim known as the Diwali Riddim, that was also produced by Marsden. Diwali Riddim is considered one of the most iconic dancehall riddims of all time.
