After comparisons were made about Vybz Kartel and Alkaline by a YouTuber, the King of the Gaza empire retaliated with several posts made to his Instagram story recently.
One of the posts read, “All da waste bwoy vlogger de weh a TRY size up him little copy cat blind bat artiste side a giant, history won’t remember dem, just like how history nuh remember 99% a di man dem ina Bob Marley era so enjoy di moment…it will be fleeting,” he said in the first post, sounding extremely irritated.
In a second post made to his Instagram story, continuing in his frustrations, ‘Worl Boss’ mentioned being an integral and active dancehall influencer to many deejays who he calls his “sons”.
“11 years later and di wull World still a wear clarks like no new shoes nuh make, still a bleach and tattoo like ink can’t done. What new weh dem do? Which global trend dem set? Which continent dem control? How much giant dem create? How much decades of greatness dem have? If me did a pay child support me money woulda done..cause all a dem a mi son,” he stated.
Though one would think that the mentioning of influence would include noteworthy accomplishments such as Grammy awards, or millions of pure record sales worldwide, Kartel saw it fit to mention bleaching one’s skin tone and the wearing of an already popular brand that was trending with Jamaicans before the recording of his song, as feats to be proud of.
In the YouTube video, the comparisons spoke of Alkaline, given name Earlan Bartley, and Kartel whose real name is Adidjah Palmer as influential dancehall personalities, but not in a manner supporting greatness by either of the artists.
“Vybz Kartel come sing bout Clarks, come sing bout cake soap, come sing bout whole heap a tings weh mek people want fi dweet. Alkaline come mek the whole mass a wear vendetta mask. Kartel mek the mass a wear Clarks and a buy toothbrush, all who nuh brush teeth.” Tommy Lee come mek people a wear mask and a gwaan like dem a demon and all dem sumn deh,” he said.
It seems Vybz Kartel had time on his hands that day, while in prison serving a life sentence for murdering an acquaintance.
As for Alkaline, not surprisingly, he took the high road and remained silent.
