Romain Virgo & Friends deliver soulful Mother’s Day celebration at Hope Gardens

On Sunday, May 11, 2025, reggae star Romain Virgo gifted the capital city one of the most heartwarming and vocally rich events of the year with his Romain Virgo & Friends concert, staged at Palm Drive, Hope Gardens. The event, which coincided with Mother’s Day, was an immaculate show,a true celebration of love, family, and the timeless power of Jamaican music.

Set against the backdrop of the lush botanical gardens, the evening featured a powerful lineup of talented artists, including Sevana, Mortimer, Janeel Mills, and rising songbird Tori Lattore. Each act brought heartfelt performances that resonated deeply with the crowd, building the perfect atmosphere for Virgo’s moving set.

To mark the occasion, the first 200 mothers to arrive received a special gift—an elegant gesture that added an extra touch of warmth and appreciation to the night.

The event catered to a wide range of experiences, with general admission tickets and elevated VIP access that allowed closer viewing near the stage. At the highest tier, an ultra-premium VVIP section featured limited cabanas priced at J$500,000 each. Designed for groups of up to 10, these packages included premium drinks, a personal hostess, and unmatched comfort—an ideal choice for families and close friends who poured into the venue early to enjoy the amenities.

Adding surprise and star power to the evening were unannounced performances by reggae icons Tarrus Riley, Capleton, Agent Sasco, Marcia Griffiths, Richie Spice, international sensation OMI—known for the global hit Cheerleader—and the soulful Ghost, beloved for his R&B-influenced reggae covers. Each artist joined Romain on stage to deliver nearly perfect sets that kept the audience swaying and singing along all night long.

The star of the evening was Romain Virgo himself, whose connection with the audience was as genuine as his lyrics. Marking the beginning of his set with a dramatic countdown to show time, Romain managed to take fans seamlessly through his body of work, earning a choir-like sing-along for each song.

“This night was about giving thanks, especially to our mothers, who give us life, strength, and love,” Virgo shared from the stage. “To be surrounded by friends, family, and fans in a space like this—it’s a blessing I don’t take for granted.”

He also expressed thanks to the Hope Gardens association for facilitating the show.

From the vocals to the venue setup, Romain Virgo & Friends was a carefully curated experience that honored the richness of his timeless catalogue while celebrating the everyday heroes in our lives—our mothers. For those in attendance, it was a memory made with music and love.
