Jamaican creative launches ambitious project to build nation’s first sound stage

Despite being featured in global blockbuster films like James Bond: No Time to Die and Pirates of the Caribbean, Jamaica has yet to establish a single full-scale sound stage — a critical piece of infrastructure in modern film and television production. That’s about to change.

Kimberly Rhoden, also known as “The Bougie Brat,” is spearheading the development of The Complex — a first-of-its-kind multi-acre cultural and creative compound in Jamaica. Through her independent label, Amiere Records, Rhoden aims to position Jamaica as a true home base for world-class storytelling.

The Complex will introduce the country’s first modern sound stage and backlot while also housing professional recording studios, content creation suites, coworking spaces, wellness areas, restaurants, and event venues. It’s designed to support not only Jamaican creatives but also talent from across the Caribbean and diaspora.

“For too long, creatives in Jamaica have had to leave to chase big dreams,” Rhoden said. “We deserve access to world-class opportunities right here at home. The Complex is about making that possible — not someday, but now.”

More than just a filming facility, The Complex is expected to generate long-term economic benefits across several sectors, including construction, film and television production, music, hospitality, digital content, event planning, and wellness services.

To bring this vision to life, Rhoden is raising funds through the Web3-powered Artizen Fund, where backers can support the project by purchasing digital collectibles. Perks range from exclusive media packs to permanent name placement on the site’s Legacy Wall and even co-founder recognition for top-tier supporters. The Complex is the first Jamaica-based project to be selected for back-to-back Artizen Fund seasons.

With the launch of The Complex, Rhoden hopes to not only boost the island’s production capacity but inspire a new generation of creatives to build big — right where they are.
