Spicemas in Brooklyn: A prequel to Grenada’s grand event

Its overwhelming success fueled anticipation for this year’s festivities, which kicked off early with a launch event in Brooklyn, New York in May.

Attendees got a taste of the authentic carnival experience through the collaborative effort of the Grenada Tourism Authority and the Spicemas Corporation.

Petra Roach, CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority, expressed, “We wanted to give New Yorkers a taste of what they can expect come August in Grenada.”

Roach added that the event was a tremendous success and served as an exciting prelude to the upcoming celebrations in Grenada.

Roach further highlighted the vibrant energy of the event and expressed anticipation of sharing the joyous expression of carnival with the world, promising an unforgettable experience this year.

Expanding access: Increased flight services to Grenada for Spicemas revelers

In light of the projected influx of visitors, both JetBlue and Caribbean Airlines have broadened their services to Grenada.

JetBlue is now offering daily nonstop flights from John F. Kennedy Airport in New York and will be operating an additional nonstop flight between August 7 and September 1.

Caribbean Airlines has also increased its flights, offering direct services from the U.S. and Canada on selected dates in August, along with expanding its Trinidad route, which is expected to accommodate more passengers.

Roach remarked that the expansion of connectivity is a true testament to Spicemas’ appeal.

“It’s a celebration not to be missed and the extra service makes it possible for even more people to witness our culture come alive here in Grenada,” Roach added.
