Caribbean Elite Group has announced the nominees for the highly anticipated 2024 Caribbean Music Awards, and this year’s list highlights some of the region’s most dynamic musical talents.
Leading the nominations is the sensational Dexta Daps, who has secured an impressive eight nods across various categories, affirming his dominance in the Caribbean music scene. Dexta Daps, known for his smooth blend of dancehall and reggae, has captivated audiences with hits like “Breaking News” and “Call Me If.”
Following closely is the energetic Skinny Fabulous, who has earned six nominations. Hailing from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Skinny Fabulous is a powerhouse in the Soca music scene. His high-energy performances and infectious tracks like “Famalay” and “Happy” have solidified his reputation as a leading force in Soca.
Masicka, Yung Bredda, Bounty Killer, and Machel Montano are also making a significant mark, each with five nominations. Masicka, known for his gritty and introspective lyrics in songs like “Leader” and “They Don’t Know,” continues to resonate with fans across the Caribbean and beyond. Yung Bredda’s fresh sound and innovative approach to dancehall have earned him a well-deserved spot among the top nominees.
Dancehall legend Bounty Killer, with his career spanning decades, remains a pivotal figure in the genre. His ongoing influence is reflected in his multiple nominations, celebrating both his past achievements and current contributions. Machel Montano, the Soca superstar from Trinidad and Tobago, continues to dominate with his electrifying performances and a string of hits that keep fans dancing year-round.
Other notable artists receiving significant recognition include Asa Bantan, Tee Jay, Cham, Byron Messia, Patrice Roberts, Rajah Wild, Nailah Blackman, and Problem Child, each with four nominations. These artists represent a broad spectrum of Caribbean music, from the pulsating rhythms of Bouyon and Dancehall to the soulful melodies of Calypso and Soca.

The 2024 Caribbean Music Awards will not only celebrate these top nominees but also honor the diversity and richness of Caribbean music. With over 150 nominees across more than 40 categories, including new additions like International DJ, French Caribbean Artist, Latin Caribbean Artist, and Bouyon Artist of the Year, the awards aim to recognize and uplift the region’s musical excellence.
Voting is currently open and will close on Thursday, June 30th, 2024.
