Buju Banton rocks Amerant Bank Arena in Florida for US tour opener

A full house of fans packed into the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida, on Friday night, eagerly anticipating the return of reggae/dancehall legend Buju Banton.

It was a night to remember, and fans were anything but disappointed. With his third performance in the USA since 2008, Buju Banton reminded everyone why he’s known as the “Gargamel” and hailed as the best dancehall-reggae artist in the world.

A night of pure magic

Fans from all over the USA—and even from overseas—flocked to the arena, ready to experience Buju’s electrifying energy and captivating stage presence.

Clarence Seeder, who traveled all the way from Chicago with his girlfriend, couldn’t contain his excitement. “I grew up listening to Buju and had never seen him live. This will go down as one of my huge bucket list achievements,” he shared, clearly thrilled by the experience.

Earnhart Miller, who came all the way from London with his wife Jeanette, echoed the sentiment. “The moment I heard the man was touring, I told my wife it’s a must! It was certainly one of the best times we have spent together. I will cherish this moment,” he said, beaming with joy.

A stellar performance

The night kicked off with a fiery set by Haitian sensation Francis “Fridayy” Leblanc, who had the crowd buzzing with excitement. As the Shiloh Band took the stage, the anticipation built to a fever pitch.

Then, for the next ninety minutes, Buju Banton delivered a masterclass in performance, rocking the arena with hit after hit from his extensive repertoire. The audience was on their feet the entire time, dancing and singing along to every song.

Adding to the magic of the night were special guest appearances by Buju’s longtime friends and fellow musicians Wayne Wonder, Gramps Morgan, and DJ Khaled. Each brought their own flavor to the show, elevating the already electrifying atmosphere and making it a night no one in attendance will soon forget.

The Overcomer Tour marches on

This show marked the first leg of Buju Banton’s Overcomer tour in the United States, following back-to-back sold-out performances at the UBS Arena in New York last month.

The tour continues tomorrow in Tampa before making its way to five more cities across the country.
