Appleton Estate revives Jamaica Rum Festival with Reggae Sumfest partnership

Industry stakeholders and special guests gathered for an evening steeped in Jamaican excellence, marking the return of this eagerly anticipated event.

A night of commemorative Soiree

Attendees at the launch event raised their glasses to an evening of festivity and camaraderie, as Appleton Estate unveiled its exciting partnership with Reggae Sumfest. 

Stefano Furini, Marketing Director at J Wray & Nephew Limited, set the tone for the festivities with an overview of the event’s significance and the collaboration with Reggae Sumfest.

He expressed that he is happy to welcome back the Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum Festival for its fifth edition. 

He shared that this year holds particular significance as they join forces with Reggae Sumfest to offer patrons an unparalleled experience, blending entertainment with our rich rum heritage.

The partnership with Reggae Sumfest promises to elevate the festival experience, with the event slated to take place on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the Catherine Hall Sports Complex in Montego Bay. 

This collaboration forms part of the week-long festivities surrounding the renowned reggae concert, amplifying the cultural fusion and entertainment offerings.

An unforgettable experience

The festival will retain its hallmark format, offering a day-to-evening extravaganza of rum education seminars, delectable cuisine, and electrifying live performances. However, the culmination of the event will witness a captivating twist with the inclusion of the Blitz concert.

Featuring a stellar lineup of local and international acts, including Beenie Man, Walshy Fire from Major Lazer, Brush1, and Franco, the Blitz concert promises an unforgettable finale to the festival. 

Through the collaboration with Reggae Sumfest, patrons will enjoy double the entertainment value under one ticket, at a single venue.

Fostering global partnerships

Joe Bogdanovich, CEO of DownSound Entertainment and executive producer of Reggae Sumfest, hailed the collaboration as a pivotal moment in the global trajectory of both festivals. 

Emphasizing the significance of the three-year partnership, Bogdanovich lauded Appleton Estate’s inspiring vision and global reach, foreseeing a bright future for Reggae Sumfest as an international brand.

Keynote address and musical finale

Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett delivered a compelling keynote speech, underscoring the cultural and economic significance of such collaborations. 

The evening concluded with a mesmerizing performance by Ras-I, leaving attendees eagerly anticipating the forthcoming festivities.

The Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum Festival, in partnership with Reggae Sumfest, sets the stage for a dynamic fusion of music, culture, and culinary delights, promising an immersive experience for locals and tourists alike. 

As anticipation mounts for the event in July, the stage is set for a celebration of Jamaican heritage and global collaboration.
