“No Senior Eats Alone” Event on Dec. 13 for Broward County Senior Citizens

BROWARD COUNTY – Humana, one of Florida’s leading health and wellbeing companies, will celebrate this holiday season on Friday, December 13, by inviting Broward County senior citizens to an event called “No Senior Eats Alone” event to share a healthy and nutritious meal, and good company, without charge at Humana’s neighborhood centers in Pembroke Pines and also in Tamarac.

The Pembroke Pines event will be held at the Humana neighborhood location at 10350 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines, FL 33026 from 10 am to 2pm, and the Tamarac event at the Humana neighborhood location at King Point Shopping Center, 7666 Nob Hill Road, Tamarac, FL 33321.

This free event to be held for all seniors and visitors, is an example of Humana’s commitment to supporting the Broward County community and raising awareness of food insecurity, social isolation and loneliness among area seniors – all social determinants of health that have implications on health and wellbeing. The holidays can be a particularly lonely time for many seniors and this event is a great way for local seniors to make friends and continue these relationships at Humana’s neighborhood locations.

Humana’s Pembroke Pines and Tamarac neighborhood centers offer a variety of health and wellness classes, including healthy cooking classes, social activities and informational seminars. The programs are offered each month for members and the community at no cost.

The event will feature a buffet-style brunch with a variety of healthy foods, including options for those with food allergies, with information on nutrition and healthy eating from Humana’s health educators, along with a Resource Fair for visitors.
