10th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference to take place in June

The eagerly anticipated 10th Biennial Jamaica Diaspora Conference is slated to take place from June 16 to 19 at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St. James.

Under the resonating theme of ‘United for Jamaica’s Transformation: Fostering Peace, Productivity, and Youth Empowerment,’ the event promises to be a beacon of collaboration and inspiration.

Minister Johnson Smith’s announcement

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, made the disclosure during Friday’s (March 8) internal stakeholders launch for the event at the Ministry’s offices in downtown Kingston. 

In her address from the Ministry’s offices in downtown Kingston, she emphasized the theme’s relevance in today’s fractured global landscape.

Embracing unity and progress

Minister Johnson Smith underscored the significance of unity, highlighting the imperative of collaboration between Jamaica and its diaspora. 

She expressed enthusiasm for the conference, noting its pivotal role in fostering tangible outcomes aligned with the National Diaspora Policy.

An eager anticipation for action

With this year’s event marking the first in-person conference since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Minister Johnson Smith anticipates a surge of energy and engagement. 

She emphasized the importance of finalizing the Action Plan, signaling a commitment to translating discussions into concrete initiatives.
