The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners on April 10 passed legislation requiring the Mayor to conduct a comprehensive review and update of the County’s sexual harassment policy with the intent of integrating new best practices to ensure a safe, healthy, inclusive workplace for all.
The resolution, sponsored by Commissioner Daniella Levine Cava, came at the urging of the Miami-Dade Commission for Women and recommends implementing a harassment complaint system that is trusted and accessible to all employees.
“In light of the national outpouring of stories of sexual harassment and calls for change, we need to do everything in our power to provide meaningful protections for our employees,” Commissioner Levine Cava said.
The current County policy is reflected in an Administrative Order from the year 2000. The measure passed unanimously and requires a review and report to the Board within 90 days.
