For over four years, JN Money has been a steadfast supporter of Sophie’s Place, a sanctuary in Gordon Town, St. Andrew, Jamaica, for children, teens, and adults with acute physical and mental disabilities.
During the holiday season, the company reaffirmed its dedication by bringing joy to the 23 residents and pledging increased support. Team members created meaningful moments through shared stories, music, and meals, spreading cheer and compassion.
Following the visit, JN Money committed to providing essential supplies, including clothing, non-perishable food items, and toys, collected through an employee-driven Christmas drive. The company also made a monetary donation to further assist the home.
“This partnership reflects our commitment to making a difference in the lives of those who need it most,” said Cedrica Reid, Marketing and Sales Manager at JN Money. “Seeing the joy on the residents’ faces during our visit was incredibly moving. We understand the challenges involved in caring for them and are honored to contribute to their well-being.”
Nestled against the tranquil Blue Mountains and accompanied by the sounds of a nearby river, Sophie’s Place has been operated by Mustard Seed Communities since 1998. The facility features boarding quarters, a fully equipped kitchen, a chapel for reflection, and a sick bay for residents requiring medical care, which housed seven isolated residents during JN Money’s visit.
In addition to caring for its residents, the home extends its mission to the surrounding community, providing critical assistance to vulnerable individuals, including young mothers.
Nurse Shelly Lee Duncombe-Taylor, one of 13 caregivers at the home, highlighted the importance of ongoing support to sustain the facility’s operations and mission. “Due to their special needs, residents require specific diets and daily care, which come at a significant cost. We are deeply grateful for the generosity of partners like JN Money, whose contributions are vital to continuing our work.”
Sophie’s Place remains a cornerstone of hope and care for its residents and the broader community, supported by partners who share its vision of compassion and service.
