During a key event marking the commissioning of new solar plants for the Caribbean Broilers (CB) Group at their Peninsula Farms in Banbury St. Catherine, Minister Vaz emphasized the urgent need for Jamaica to adopt sustainable energy solutions.

He highlighted that Jamaica stands at a crucial crossroads where embracing clean energy is vital to address both climate change challenges and the limits of fossil fuel reserves.

A milestone for corporate leadership in sustainability

The CB Group’s commitment to renewable energy represents a significant achievement for both the organization and Jamaica.

The installation of a 2.1 Mega Watt capacity solar plant, one of the island’s largest renewable energy facilities, is developed by Soleco Energy.

This initiative demonstrates the significant role that industrial sectors can play in reducing their carbon footprint and energy expenses.

Government vision and corporate collaboration

Minister Vaz discussed the broader government vision that aims to increase the proportion of clean energy on the national grid.

He underscored the solar project’s alignment with government efforts to promote alternative energy sources.

The project exemplifies effective cross-sector collaboration and the critical role corporate entities play in fostering environmental innovation and positive change.

Impact and potential of renewable energy

The utilization of solar plants by the CB Group not only aids in clean electricity generation but also serves as a potent demonstration of renewable energy’s capacity to revolutionize the industrial sector.

It sets a precedent for sustainable practices and highlights how businesses can significantly reduce their reliance on imported fossil fuels, decrease energy costs, and contribute positively to environmental conservation.
