Dominican Government prepares for geothermal plant construction

Dominica’s Energy Minister, Dr. Vince Henderson, has announced that the government is poised to launch a transformative 10-kilowatt geothermal power plant, signaling a significant shift towards sustainable energy.

With an investment of nearly 50 million US dollars in geothermal research, Dominica is doubling down on its commitment to cleaner energy sources.

A pioneering partnership with Ormat Technologies

Last December, a groundbreaking agreement was signed between the Dominican government and Ormat Technologies Incorporated, a Nevada-based leader in renewable energy.

This 25-year partnership will not only fund the power plant’s construction but also oversee its operation and maintenance, including the geothermal wells.
