BOJ temporarily halts acceptance of Trinidad and Tobago currency

The Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) recently announced the temporary suspension of the exchange of Trinidad and Tobago dollars at its banking counter.

BOJ disclosed that the existing arrangement for the central bank to repatriate Trinidad and Tobago banknotes is currently under review.

A pause in operations

The bank did not disclose specific factors that necessitated the review. 

The public is advised that starting Monday, November 6, the exchange of Trinidad and Tobago dollars at BOJ’s banking counter is suspended until further advised.
