BermudAir gets approval from Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority

On Wednesday, Bermuda celebrated the launch of BermudAir, the first-ever airline to be established on the island.

The Transport Minister of Bermuda, Wayne Furbert, revealed that the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) has given full authorization to BermudAir, along with its Air Operating Certificate (AOC).

Furbert hailed this as a recognition of the airline’s steadfast dedication to maintaining safety norms and meeting all regulatory standards.

“As a government, we take immense pride in witnessing the fulfillment of all necessary protocols and certifications, paving the way for BermudAir to soar into the skies with confidence and pride,” he said.  

Job creation and tourism growth: BermudAir’s expected ripple effect

He further emphasized that this significant advancement is key to the expansion of Bermuda’s aviation sector which symbolizes the potential for increased growth, progress, and autonomy within the island nation.

“The introduction of  BermudAir will undoubtedly significantly contribute to developing air services in Bermuda. As a Bermuda-based airline, BermudAir will enhance connectivity, bolster economic growth, and promote travel to our beautiful island,” he said.

Furthermore, Furbert expressed that the operations of BermudAir are expected to create numerous direct and indirect job opportunities. 

The potential positions are said to extend from pilots, flight attendants, and ground crew to administrative, maintenance, and customer service roles.

A significant leap for Bermuda’s aviation sector

It is also anticipated that the launch of the airline will stimulate the demand for peripheral services such as hospitality, dining, and transport, which will provide substantial support to local businesses.

Furbert added that the upcoming launch of BermudAir underscores a significant victory for Bermuda, broadcasting to the global community that Bermuda possesses the capacity and capability to thrive in various sectors.
