In an unforeseen turn of events, British Airways’ crew onboard a flight from the Caribbean to London managed to devise an alternative when something went wrong with the inflight meals during the trip. The airline’s emergency solution, according to Travel + Leisure, was orchestrated with the unexpected assistance of KFC.
The Boeing 777, flying under flight number BA 252, was on its route from Turks and Caicos to London, making a pitstop in Nassau, Bahamas when the crew discovered that the catered food could not be eaten.
Crew’s response to the catering crisis
Undeterred by this setback, the flight crew stepped off the aircraft at Nassau airport, returning with KFC chicken to stave off passenger hunger.
In a situation where options were sparse, the British Airways team sprung into action and made sure their passengers onboard the flight had something to eat, according to a British Airways spokesperson who spoke said with T+L.
Complimentary refreshments
Despite their inventiveness, the spokesperson extended their apologies to passengers for the unavailable standard meal service, noting that the situation necessitated a slightly unconventional approach.
In addition to the fast-food meal, reports are that passengers were later compensated with a refreshment voucher upon arrival at London’s Heathrow Airport.
According to reports, not all passengers appeared pleased with the improvised meal solution.
