Constable Alwayne Hill was charged for five offences. This was based on a ruling brought by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

His court date is to be scheduled on Wednesday.

He is one of four police constables implicated in the alleged robbery and sexual assault. The four policemen were taken into custody, but three have since been released.

Hill has been charged with rape, grievous sexual assault, forcible abduction, corruptly soliciting and simple larceny.

According to reports, the woman was driving along the Crawford main road in a car with a demonstration license plate around 10:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30.

Members of a police team stationed at a checkpoint signaled her to stop. The 26-year-old, whose name has not been released, allegedly offered the cops J$7,000 to avoid being ticketed, but they requested $50,000.

It is reported that the policemen took the woman to an ATM in Black River, where she tried to withdraw the $50,000, but was unsuccessful.

One of the cops then instructed her to drive to a supermarket, where she was led to the back of the building. The cop allegedly raped her and threatened to kill her if she reported it.
