A Jamaican policeman was found guilty of murder and unlawful wounding at a 2010 football match when he appeared in the St. Ann Parish Court on Tuesday.
Alcourt Williams is to be sentenced on February 3.
Williams had been a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force for 17 years at the time of the incident and was suspended after being charged.
Reports are that in 2010, the cop shot two men, one fatally, during a football match at Drax Hall playing field.
During the match, Williams identified himself as a police officer, and intervened in a fight involving several persons, after a mass of people invaded the playing field during a football match to protest a refereeing decision.
A man with a knife was told to drop it but refused and continued to approach another man involved in the dispute.
Williams then fired a warning shot into the air, followed by another that hit two people.
One of the two injured men was taken to the hospital, where he died.
Following investigations, Williams was charged with murder and unlawful wounding and was found guilty on both counts.
