Jamaica will not be sending a team to the World Athletics Relays, which is set to take place in Silesia, Poland.
The decision to withdraw from the May 1-2 championship event, was confirmed by the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association.
The JAAA had a few days ago, named a 39-member team, which included the likes of double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson Herah and veteran sprinter Asafa Powell.
But on Tuesday, the Association announced that they decided not to attend the event, citing existing travel restrictions, routing and also the COVID-19 pandemic.
The JAAA said that the withdrawal was in the best interest of Jamaican athletes and stakeholders.
