According to NEMA, the hurricane warning has been discontinued for the islands of Grand Bahama, Bimini and the Berry Islands.

“However, severe showers and thunderstorms from the outer bands of Isaias, will continue to affect the islands of the northwest Bahamas today and gusty winds will also be experienced in Grand Bahama and Bimini today.”

According to reports, Isaias damaged roofs and topped trees as it made landfall on Andros Island on Saturday morning.

The storm also left widespread damage across the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

In the Dominican Republic, two people were killed. In the first instance a high-voltage power line fell, killing a 53 year old man and a five year old boy was killed when a tree fell and crushed his home.

In Puerto Rico, Isaias, which hit the island as a tropical storm, toppled trees, flooded streets and knocked out power for hundreds of thousands of homes and businesses.

At least 35 people, including two newborn babies, were rescued by the National Guard.

Meanwhile, the Miami based National Hurricane Centre (NHC), in update on Tropical Storm Isaias said the system is moving toward the northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h) and a general northwestward motion is expected on Sunday, followed by a north-northwestward motion Sunday night .
