BROWARD COUNTY, FL – The Andrews Avenue Rehabilitation Project is nearing completion.
The $8.8 million project, funded by gas tax revenue, to upgrade the 38-year-old bridge began in July 2018 and is expected to be completed in April 2020 barring any unforeseen conditions or weather delays.
In order to complete work in the center lanes of the drawbridge, traffic will need to be shifted to the outside lanes on Andrews Avenue from Las Olas Boulevard to South 5th Street, including the pedestrian access ramp on the south side and the Tender Control Tower on the north side of the bridge.
During construction, the bridge will be closed to motorists for approximately three nights from 10 PM to 5 AM on February 23rd, March 8th and March 9th. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Boaters will notice minimal impacts.
