Students at the three Broward Technical Colleges outperformed their counterparts in the state by more than 15%, with 889 credentials earned.

The achievement of Broward Technical Colleges students in earning industry certifications qualifies the District for $889,000 from the state, as part of the Florida Department of Education postsecondary Florida Career and Professional Education Act, also known as CAPE. Beginning in 2014, the legislature agreed to fund nationally recognized industry certifications earned by postsecondary students in 28 occupational programs. Since its inception, BCPS technical college students have earned more than 4,043 credentials and more than $3.5 million in additional funding for the three technical colleges.

“At the heart of Broward Technical Colleges robust industry certification programs are skilled and dedicated educators who deliver engaging instruction aligned with academic standards and program competencies,” said BCPS Superintendent Robert W. Runcie. “We are proud to provide high-quality career and technical programs for our students as they transition and continue their journey toward career and college readiness.”

Broward Technical Colleges offer more than 70 certificate programs for careers in architecture and construction; arts, A/V technology and communications; business management and administration; education and training; health science; hospitality and tourism; human services; information technology; law, public safety and security; manufacturing; marketing, sales and service; and transportation, distribution and logistics.
