Police believe that Barrington ‘Drop’ Whyte could assist in their investigations into the death of District Constable Mellissa Edwards-Whyte.

Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson has condemned the murder saying, “It is unfortunate that domestic violence has robbed us of another promising talent. Woman District Constable Mellissa Edwards-Whyte was met with such cruelty and callousness and no effort will be spared in bringing closure to this matter,” said Anderson, adding that the Chaplaincy and Community Safety and Security Branch have been instructed to provide all the necessary support to colleagues and friends of Edwards-Whyte.

“Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) are also being reminded to use the resources available to the JCF, namely, the Chaplaincy and Medical Services Branch, to help through domestic and other issues which impact their emotional, psychological and physical well-being.

“Police officers are encouraged to remain vigilant and undaunted as we continue to enforce law and order and build safer communities. As a nation, we must bond together to preserve the rule of law, the safety, security, and human rights of every Jamaican,” said Anderson.
