Haitian American singer, Jason Derulo, sang the National Anthem at the Marlins’ Opening Day on, March 29th, before the game against the Chicago Cubs.
The anthem capped pre-game festivities for the Marlins’ opener, featuring a performance by Miami’s DJ Khaled and Poo Bear. The Marlins and Cubs began the first game of the Major League Baseball season with Jose Urena throwing the first pitch at 12:40 p.m.
Jason Joel Desrouleaux, born to Haitian parents in the Broward County city of Miramar, became known for his double-Platinum hit, “Whatcha Say” and has generated more than 9 billion audio streams. His breakout single “Talk Dirty” (featuring 2 Chainz) has reached seven-times platinum status, while “Want To Want Me” and “Wiggle” (featuring Snoop Dogg) went quadruple-platinum.
