A student activist and survivor of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre is urging students to boycott Florida this Spring Break.
David Hogg, who survived the shooting and is among those students calling for gun reforms, tweeted on Saturday: “Let’s make a deal DO NOT come to Florida for spring break unless gun legislation is passed.
These politicians won’t listen to us so maybe they’ll listen to the billion dollar tourism industry in FL. #neveragain.”
Hogg and other Parkland students are urging Tallahassee lawmakers to pass stricter gun control laws, including banned assault weapons and raising the age limit to 21, for those seeking to purchase such weapons. According to Visit Florida, visitors spent nearly $112 billion in Florida in 2016 and account for about one million jobs.
Visit Florida says it will continue to market our state as a welcoming and safe world-class destination.
