Multiple fatalities in car crash in Dominica

Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has described as a “tragedy” the death of five people following a automobile accident on Sunday in Vielle Case along the island’s north coast.

Over precipice

 

Police have not yet released the names of those killed when the vehicle plunged over a precipice early Sunday.

The police reported that the five people may have died when the vehicle in which they were travelling plunged over a cliff in an area called Ambas.

 

The Prime Minister is the Member of Parliament for Vielle Case.

Prime minister condolences

 

Offering his condolences, the Prime Minister said, “My thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the deceased. We all share in the pain and suffering. For me personally it can’t get closer. God shall give us the strength and courage to deal with this tragedy,” said Skerrit, the parliamentary representative for the Vielle Case constituency.

 

Opposition leader

 

Opposition Leader Lennox Linton also expressed sadness regarding the tragic at the event saying he was praying “for God’s guidance, support and protection to the relatives and friends of the five young brothers who lost their lives in that tragic vehicular accident.

Bishop of Roseau, Gabriel Malzaire, said “tragedies of that nature are causes of national sadness,” adding “we are all the affected by such moments of deep sorrow”.

He urged the country to “remain united in prayer for each other especially for the families most in need of consolation”
