The “Joined at the Roots” exhibit, curated by Cácos Bart of MUCE, will conclude with a grand closing night celebration on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex Art Gallery.
The event will feature a fashion showcase by renowned designer Ruth Louissaint, founder and lead designer of RL Design Studio, and will honor the shared legacies of African American and Haitian American women.
Louissaint, an eclectic designer with more than 35 years of experience in custom women’s wear, will debut a striking collection in which each piece tells a story—blending textures, patterns, and silhouettes that embody the strength, grace, and spirit of both communities.
“This collection is my love letter to the women who carry culture in their bones and beauty in their stride,” Louissaint said. “It’s about honoring where we come from and how deeply connected we truly are.”
Notable community figures, including Sandra Justice, Tico Armand, and Angelique Françoi,s will walk the runway wearing garments designed to reflect cultural pride, spiritual depth, and generational beauty.
Far more than a runway show, the finale will also serve as a visual dialogue between fine art and fashion. Guests will explore the gallery’s vibrant works, experience the blending of creativity and heritage, and join in a celebration of legacy, memory, and unity.

The event, which begins at 6:00 p.m., is free to attend. RSVPs are available on Eventbrite. The Little Haiti Cultural Complex’s Art Gallery is located at 212 NE 59th Terrace, Miami, FL 33137, in the back near the parking lot.
