Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Michael Drew, has been nominated for the 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award and Tribute by the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD), a global civil society initiative recognized by the United Nations.
The award is one of MIPAD’s highest honors, reserved for leaders of African descent whose influence has created a lasting, transformative impact across generations.
Dr. Drew announced the nomination during a national press conference on July 22, stating:
“I have been nominated to receive recognition by MIPAD, which is connected to the United Nations, to honour or to recognize leaders of African descent who are making significant strides to advance African peoples in the world. I think I will be the only Prime Minister in the region to do that.”
The recognition comes amid Dr. Drew’s efforts to elevate St. Kitts and Nevis on the world stage through his Sustainable Island State Agenda. Under his leadership, the twin-island nation has prioritized deepening ties with Africa, accelerating the green energy transition, modernizing infrastructure, expanding access to healthcare, and pursuing inclusive economic growth.
Reflecting on the honor, Dr. Drew added,
“Our size does not limit what we can achieve… We are small, but we tallawah.”
He will be officially honored during MIPAD’s Recognition Weekend on September 26, 2025, at the Harvard Club in New York City, on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly.
Dr. Drew joins a distinguished group of global changemakers who have previously received MIPAD’s Lifetime Achievement distinction, including former U.S. President Barack Obama, Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo, and WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus.
