Authorities are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible for a shooting that occurred just after midnight on Thursday in southwest Miami-Dade.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the incident took place near Southwest 266th Street and Southwest 138th Court. One individual was struck by gunfire and transported to a nearby hospital, where they remain in stable condition, officials said.
No information has been released regarding the identity of the victim or any potential suspects.
The shooting occurred in a mostly residential area of southwest Miami‑Dade, and while law enforcement has noted an overall decline in violent crime across the county this year, they remain concerned about isolated incidents like this one. First-quarter data for 2025 from the Miami‑Dade Sheriff’s Office indicate homicides fell from 18 to 11 (a 39 % decrease), rapes dropped by 38 %, and robberies decreased by 21 %, compared to the same period in 2024.
However, longer-term figures from official county reports show Miami‑Dade still ranks above the national average in both violent and property crime, with Part 1 violent crimes down about 17 % year‑to‑date through April 20, 2025, and non-violent crimes down nearly 13 %. Shooting incidents remain a recurring concern; countywide, there have been multiple shootings most months, including at least five separate reported shootings in April 2025.
