Turner garnered 1,672 votes, significantly outpacing his rival George Wehner of the United Progressive Party (UPP), who secured 570 votes. Thirty-one ballots were rejected.

Turner’s win cements the ruling party’s hold on the constituency in an election closely monitored nationwide. A local architect and businessman, Turner ran on a platform emphasizing community development, economic revitalization, and infrastructure modernization. His strong ties to the constituency and vision for progress resonated with voters, earning him a clear mandate.

The by-election, marked by spirited campaigning, saw Wehner focus on accountability and infrastructure challenges. While conceding defeat, Wehner commended his supporters and vowed to continue advocating for the community’s needs.

The St. Peter seat became vacant following the tragic murder of former ABLP MP Asot Michael in late 2024. Turner’s victory not only solidifies the party’s representation in Parliament but also serves as a morale boost for the ABLP, with political analysts interpreting the win as a sign of voter confidence in its governance.

High voter turnout underscored the electorate’s engagement and commitment to the democratic process in Antigua and Barbuda.

As Turner prepares to assume his role in Parliament, residents of St. Peter look forward to the realization of his campaign pledges and the start of a new chapter in leadership for the constituency.
