The first cohort will begin in January 2025, the second cohort will commence in either September 2025 or January 2026 and the third cohort will begin in September 2026 or January 2027.

In addition to the scholarships, students will have access to various other scholarship opportunities that aim to reduce financial barriers to higher education. This partnership is expected to be a transformative step for Grenadian students, particularly those who are the first in their families to pursue tertiary education

Grenada’s Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, emphasized the transformative potential of education during the announcement of the landmark scholarship program. He stated “This scholarship program is testimony to Monroe University’s commitment to affording Grenadian students the opportunity to pursue higher education. It represents a great step forward in our shared vision to empower our future leaders who will in turn help their communities and Grenada. We recognize that education can be quite costly and so this scholarship will allow students who otherwise may not have had the opportunity to pursue higher education.”

Speaking at the signing ceremony, President of Monroe University, Marc Jerome, stated:

“We are honored to partner with the Government of Grenada to invest in the scholarships and people of Grenada.”

Grenada’s Ministry of Education says the program is a win for Grenadian students “It marks the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at fostering sustainable development through education. This collaboration underscores the Government’s commitment to addressing the advancement of higher education opportunities,” the Ministry said in a recent statement.

“Monroe University has a long and proud history of helping first-generation students successfully navigate through their university experience to earn their degree. The Government has a goal of having a university graduate in every household. This Agreement is intended to help meet that goal.”

This partnership sets a promising precedent, showcasing the power of collaboration to transform lives and help communities thrive through the accessibility of education.
