The Miami-Dade County Elections Department will conduct a comprehensive test on the voting equipment that will be used in the upcoming November 5th General Election. The Department said they will conduct a Logic and Accuracy Test on Wednesday, October 16th, at 10 a.m. at the Elections Department, 2700 NW 87 Avenue, Miami, FL 33172.
Each step of the voting and tabulation process will be tested. Ballots will be cast according to a predetermined outcome, and then tabulated and reconciled to ensure the votes were accurately counted. The test includes everything from opening the equipment to transmitting and tabulating results. It is just one of several measures that are taken during the preparation of an election to ensure that voting equipment is ready for use. This is a public test.
In a Press release the elections department says voters can now view their customized sample ballot online and are encouraged to review it before heading to the polls. The customized sample ballot is a sample of their specific ballot, which contains the races and questions that apply to them. Voters should print it or take a picture of it so they can make their selections in advance. This will speed up the process for them and everyone else in line! So, know before you go!
The release also stated that the law changed in 2023 requiring voters to renew their vote-by-mail request after every General Election. Just because they had a request on file for 2020 or 2022 does not mean that voters or their family members will automatically receive their ballot for the November 5, 2024 General Election. If they have not already done so, they must re-enroll! Do not wait, renew now at www.miamidade.gov/votebymail! For more information, visit www.miamidade.gov/elections or call 311.
