The production will debut in the iconic Historic Hampton House Motel, a national landmark in Miami, and promises to take audiences on a captivating journey through the cultural and emotional landscape of the 1960s and 70s.

Inspired by the real-life experiences of Wade’s parents, Henry and Barbara Wade, who worked at the Hampton House during its heyday from 1964 to 1975, the play delves into their love story, the vibrant history of the motel, and the pivotal role it played in Miami’s African American community. Keith Wade, their only child, grew up hearing these stories, which he brings to life in this production.

The Last Sun of the Hampton House holds deep personal significance for Wade, who faced profound personal loss during its creation. After losing his father last year, Wade’s mother passed away in June. In August, Wade himself survived a massive heart attack. Despite these hardships, he remained committed to honoring his parents’ legacy and preserving the rich history of the Hampton House.

The production features original music by Danette Inyang and Jerald Dorsett, further enhancing the nostalgic and emotional atmosphere of the show. Audiences can expect to be transported back to the golden era of the Hampton House, reliving key moments in its history.

Performances will run from September 27-29 and October 4-6, with showtimes at 8:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays, and 5:00 PM on Sundays. The Historic Hampton House is located at 4240 NW 27th Avenue, Miami, FL 33142.

Tickets are available for purchase through Eventbrite.com or by contacting the Historic Hampton House directly at (305) 638-5800.
